While documenting Collabforge’s client history, I came across this clip of our Managing Director Mark Elliott and former Strategist Dale Bowerman. The interview was part of the Knowledge Cities World Summit 2010, with the pair discussing the role social media has in government engagement activities. Topics covered include the opportunities that these new technologies present to government bodies, common pitfalls, trends in social media adoption and how social media can lead to better policy making.

While a lot has changed in the social media scene over the past 4 years, these points all still ring true. There is definite room for improvement but it is positive that government adoption of social media for better community engagement is becoming more widespread.
